COOK installed 48" diameter caissons to depths of 80 feet as part of this project. COOK was responsible for excavation of caissons, testing of bearing material, placement and fabrication of reinforcing steel and pouring of concrete.

The sequence of work on this project and limited size of the site called for the installation of caissons in two phases. Conflicts between the close proximity of the exterior caissons to the shoring for mass excavation were resolved by first drilling the caissons from existing grade. Due to this conflict caissons were required to be poured 17 feet below working grade. Even with the limited size of the site, COOK was able to allow free and clear access to the site to other trades by utilizing self contained drilling equipment which required only a small operational area. This also allowed COOK to simultaneously operate two separate drilling operations on site, allowing for the client to maintain an aggressive construction schedule.
