When extremely dense
bedrock was unexpectedly encounter on this project the Owner was faced
with a potential four-fold increase in the cost of the installing the
proposed 84" diameter caisson foundation system. COOK redesigned the foundation
system to a combined caisson rock anchor system eliminating the need for
expensive and time-consuming rock excavation. To facilitate the use of
rock anchor COOK had to first pressure grout the underlying rock to prevent
potentially corrosive groundwater coming in contact with the rock anchors.
